SAM role vacancies: Secretary, Joint Training Officers, and Treasurer

The Section for Archives & Museums provides a focal point for record keepers, conservators and volunteers interested in archives, museums and galleries and working in all types of institutions and work-settings. Members are encouraged to share challenges, solutions and best practice across areas of all museum and object management.

They are a busy group organising many different events and also producing resources and guides.

They are looking to recruit:

Secretary

Working alongside the Chair to organise and facilitate the Committee meetings, you will prepare the agenda and supporting documentation, write and circulate the minutes and any other reports. A part of the role will be monitoring the SAM email address and responding to routine queries or issues. This will also include forwarding and discussing any responses with specific Officers as required. You will also liaise with the Communication Officers and team to ensure that membership are communicated with and activities are promoted.

Training officer x 2

As one of the two training officers you would work with section, national or regional members to identify training needs, organise, run and promote training events (formal/informal) within budget and liaising with outside speakers. You would report to the LED Forum three times a year and attend meetings where possible. You will also need to maintain good communication with other officers, and join in on national/regional activities.

Treasurer

As Treasurer you will manage all aspects of the ARA SAM budget, including monitoring expenditure, processing invoices, orders and contracts and sign off legitimate officer expenses. You will provide budget reports and updates for the SAM Committee meetings and as required to ARA and prepare and submit the annual budget proposal to the ARA Honorary Treasurer, with support from the ARA SAM Chair. You will also work with the Training Officers to ensure funds for Trainers are covered by incoming fees.
