Karyn Williamson

Specialist Groups and Sections

Karyn graduated from the University of Dundee in 2013 and attained ARA registered status in 2017. She is currently the company archivist for Standard Life Aberdeen where she has been responsible for building the archive service from the ground up. She also has a post-graduate certificate in Digital Information Management from University College Dublin and specialises in the use of open-source software in digital preservation workflows.

She has worked in various voluntary roles across the sector, beginning with Publicity Officer for the ARA Section for New Professionals and Training Officer of ARA Scotland. She then became Chair of both sections for two and four years respectively. She manages the Explore Your Archive website and is Events Coordinator for the Business Archive Council Scotland.

When she’s not working, she can be found hillwalking, in her craft room, at the theatre or watching thrillers at the cinema - usually with ice cream.
