Toughened safety glass

Advantages

  • Cost

  • Aesthetically acceptable

Disadvantages

  • Vulnerable to attack with basic tools

  • No visual deterrent (could increase the target attractiveness)

Laminated safety glass

Advantages

  • Cost

  • Aesthetically acceptable

  • More robust than toughened glass

Disadvantages

  • Vulnerable to attack with basic tools

  • No visual deterrent (could increase the target attractiveness)

Toughened/laminated safety glass with ASF

Advantages

  • An additional layer of robustness is added that will delay any ingress by a few seconds for the toughened glass and slightly longer for the laminated glass.

  • Additional cost over the use of safety glass.

Disadvantages

  • Questionable benefit if tools are used.

  • Cost-benefit of the delay versus the additional installation cost

Wired Glazing

  • Advantages

  • Visible deterrent for opportunist criminals

  • More robust than toughened glass

Disadvantages

  • Not aesthetically pleasing

Security Glass

  • Advantages

  • Robustness

  • Known delay

Disadvantages

  • Cost

  • Weight
