Navigating the Culture Wars: Public engagement and archival values
Trainer: Dr Victoria Hoyle
Tuesday 25th March - 13.00 to 14.00pm
Online - Microsoft Teams
Our speaker for this session is Dr Victoria Hoyle who will be speaking about “Navigating the Culture Wars: Public engagement and archival values”.
In 2020, the sector came together to declare its support for the Black Lives Matter movement, drawing on twenty years of critical reflection on power and social justice in archives. However, in spite of greater professional consciousness of inequalities in practice and participation, it remains difficult to challenge the legacy of -isms in our institutions and collections, such as racism, sexism and colonialism. How can we embody a more equitable and open perspective on archives through engagement, education and participation, challenging the -isms?
During the session there will be the opportunity for questions and discussion with the speaker.
