Audrey Wilson

Audrey has over 30 years of diverse experience in the UK and Australian archives sectors, with extensive expertise in the cultural and heritage fields. A qualified paper conservator, her career began at Historic Environment Scotland before moving to Australia to manage Conservation Access, a business within the State Library of New South Wales. After returning to Scotland, she founded Conservation Consortium Scotland Limited, a successful business based in Edinburgh.

Since 2015, Audrey has been a key contributor to the Scottish Council on Archives (SCA) as Project Manager for the National Lottery Heritage Fund project, "Opening-Up Scotland's Archives." This initiative provided traineeships to a diverse and inclusive range of individuals, promoting equality in the sector. Audrey remains a passionate advocate for broadening access to archives and serves on the board of Make Your Mark, an online platform that connects people in Scotland with volunteering opportunities in historical, cultural, and nature organisations.

Audrey's commitment to community-driven archives led her to join the Board of the Archives and Records Association's (ARA) Community Archive Heritage Group (CAHG) in 2019. In 2020, she spearheaded the pilot of CAHG Scotland, which continues to thrive under her leadership. Through this initiative, she empowers communities to curate and preserve their own histories, fostering learning, social participation, and cultural understanding.

Since 2021, Audrey has held the role of Partnership and Engagement Manager at SCA. In this advocacy-focused position, she works to expand the reach of the archive sector by promoting collaboration with galleries, libraries, academia, and museums. Audrey's passion for archives extends beyond Scotland, as she regularly presents at conferences both in the UK and abroad. She was honoured to be a guest speaker at the Cheongju Archival Workshop in South Korea and looks forward to further international engagement in the coming years.

Audrey's recent appointment as Trustee of the Archives and Records Association UK & Ireland (ARA UK & Ireland) aligns with her deep commitment to the sector. She looks forward to contributing her expertise to bridge strategic vision and practical implementation, enriching board discussions and advancing the mission of the ARA.
