Janet Hancock
Janet Hancock is Head of Preservation & Collections Management at the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland (PRONI), with responsibility for the safety and security of PRONI’s physical and digital archives. With over twenty years’ experience as an archivist, Janet has worked across a range of posts at PRONI. Starting her career in Education and Outreach, Janet went on to spend over a decade as Deputy Head of Public Services where she led the development of a range of digital resources and online applications alongside curation of exhibitions, delivery of talks and events, and managing remote and onsite visitor engagement. Janet also established a number of successful cross-sectoral partnership projects for creative community engagement, including Making the Future and CollabArchive. Prior to joining PRONI, Janet spent a number of years as a genealogical researcher at the Heritage Library in Derry~Londonderry. Janet was a member of the UK Archive Accreditation Standard co-creation group and is an Assessor for the programme. She is a former Chair of the Archives & Records Association Ireland region, and is also a Fellow of the Clore Cultural Leadership programme.
