Ally McConnell

Ally has been working as the Principal Archivist at the Wiltshire & Swindon History Centre since November 2022. From 2013 to 2017, she started her professional career at the same place, as a project archivist and then as a permanent member of staff. She then spent five years at Gloucestershire Archives, again starting on a cataloguing project and then becoming a Senior Archivist before returning to Wiltshire to lead the archive service. This role also means Ally is part of the Chief Archivists in Local Government Group.

For the ARA, Ally has been on the committee of the South West region since 2016, firstly as Training Officer, then as Secretary, and finally Chair. She has also been a Joint Editor of ARC Magazine since 2022, and has been a registered member of the ARA since December 2020. She is excited to now be on the Board of the ARA and have the opportunity to contribute on a more national and strategic level.
