Are you an ally when it comes to Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging?

We are looking for more people to join the Diversity Allies, both the general group and to sit on the committee.

The ARA Diversity and Inclusion Allies are a group volunteers who organise around the principles of improving diversity and inclusion across ARA and the wider record-keeping community. Their aim is to work with the ARA Board to promote best practice in relation to diversity and inclusion across the sector, forging new paths for positive change.

The group runs a regular ‘Is it okay’ session at our annual conference – this has proved increasingly popular since its first appearance at our conference in Chester in 2022.

There are three ongoing blog series (welcoming contributors):

And a further strand of work – Connecting and Working with Marginalised Communities.

Members of the group have also delivered face to face and online training for ARA as well as writing articles for ARC magazine and making regular contributions at conference.

ARA has also used the group as a sounding board and consulting group on work relating to EDIB and this has helped us produce a number of useful resources in this area.

The work the group does is ever more important in what can only be described as challenging times and if you are interested in getting involved please email diversityandinclusion@archives.org.uk to find out more.
