Bill Stockting

Bill Stockting has been managing the Royal Archives at Windsor Castle for the past six and a half years. Previously, Bill was at the British Library for nine years where he led the development of the archives and manuscripts cataloguing system and latterly was responsible for the cataloguing and processing of the Library’s special collections. Before that, Bill worked at the UK National Archives for thirteen years and was a member of the team that developed the first online catalogue and led the retro-conversion of catalogues nationwide and their presentation online as part of the Access to Archives (A2A) Programme.

Bill has also supported professional development of standards for cataloguing in a digital world nationally and internationally for many years and is a member of the International Council on Archives' (ICA) Expert Group on Archival Description (EGAD), which is developing a conceptual model for archival description, Records in Contexts (RiC). He now wants to bring this experience to bear to help ensure that the ARA can provide members with the professional support they need in these challenging times.
